But as I knew that with the original AMIGA serial-port I could not get the full speed out of it, I wanted to buy a MULTIFACE serial board. But for that moment those boards were not available. So I fell on the HyperCOM3Z, which seemed a very good alternative, or so I thought... The first test was great !!! What a gain in speed !!! But joy should not last long, after more or less 20 minutes the transfer stopped ! The modem still seemed to heavyly receive data but my IBrowse and YAM did not continue receiving ! Onther major problem was the parallel-port on the HyperCOM3Z, I just can't use it ! To resolve this "ever-happening" I tried everything: updated the new HyperCOM3Z devices, tried configurating with "SerPrefs", new version of MIAMI... nothing made a difference ! But on 12-JUL-98, I downloaded the latest library update for the CyberStrom060 (phase5) from AmiNet. This package included a tool named "SetCacheMode". In the release notes of the 060-library, phase5 announced that this new version could finally handle "non-existing memory" that is needed for some ZorroII boards (ATEO concept). As the HyperCOM3Z is a ZorroII board, I immediately re-started testing... and this time with success ! The "Guidelines" ---------------- -Get the location-address of your HyperCOM3Z borad. I used "SysInfo" for this. The memory-size is needed to, but you can find it here and it should be the same for every HyperCOM3Z. -Get and install (depack) the phase5 library update. Copy the SetCacheMode into your C-directory (not the C-compiler directory). -Get and install (depack) the latest HyperCOM3Z devices (copy them into your DEVS-directory). -Inserted following command-line into your startup-sequence: run >NIL: C:SetCacheMode address=$xxxxxxxx size=$10000 NoCacheSerialized where xxxxxxxx corresponds to the board's location address. Notes ----- -"SysInfo" deliverd 64KB as memory-size for HyperCOM3Z. (64K=10000h) -Please make sure to insert the command line after the ENV-declaration in your startup-sequence, otherwise you will get some system-requests to insert the ENV volume ! (bad for CGX users) -The problem with the parallel-port of HyperCOM3Z still persists... I just can't access it ! Do YOU have an answer to this ? -If this solution works for YOU, PLEASE infrom me by mail indicating your detailed system-specifications. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ A copy (with eventual updates) can be found on my homepage at: http://www.geocities.com/motorcity/track/3571/ _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
